In 1997, following the establishment of the National Institute of Fine Art and Design named after Kamoliddin Behzod, the Department of Applied Graphics began its activity within the institute. Subsequently, the department developed and continued its work under the name “Applied Graphics and Artistic Photography.” Today, the department is one of the unique fields in the republic and serves as a leading center for training highly qualified specialists in the areas of “Advertising and Applied Graphics” and “Computer Graphics and Artistic Photography.”

The main objective of the department is to train competitive specialists with strong theoretical knowledge and practical skills, capable of creative thinking, through the integration of modern design approaches with national and global experience. To achieve this, students are taught contemporary trends in advertising and graphics through practical examples, develop skills in creating design and compositional solutions by working on various projects, and gain proficiency in the effective use of graphic, 3D, and digital software. In addition, the department aims to develop students’ aesthetic awareness and foster a creative approach.

The department offers the following core subjects: fundamentals of design, advertising and applied graphics, computer graphics, artistic photography, composition and color theory, materials science, design graphics, design theory and methodology, design using modern computer software, visual communication, model making, artistic construction, and media and advertising technologies.
