The Department of Informatics and Management was established in 2003. In accordance with the decision of the Institute’s Academic Council dated August 13, 2024, the Departments of “Informatics and Management” and “Social Sciences and Physical Education” were merged, resulting in the reorganization of the department under the new name “Social Sciences and Informatics.” Currently, the department operates within the Faculty of Art Studies and Museology at the National Institute of Fine Art and Design named after Kamoliddin Behzod.

The department provides training for qualified specialists in the field of art management, ensures the development of their professional competencies, and carries out educational, pedagogical, research, and organizational-methodological activities. In addition, the department collaborates closely with all structural divisions of the institute to deliver courses in social sciences and information technologies.

The main objective of the department is to train competitive specialists equipped with modern knowledge and skills, capable of working effectively in professional environments and demonstrating high social engagement. At the same time, an important task is to develop students’ economic thinking, creative approach, and proficiency in the use of modern information technologies.

Currently, the department offers training at both bachelor’s and master’s levels. The educational process is organized on the basis of a credit-modular system. The department offers the following core subjects: art marketing, financial accounting, project management, digital economy, cross-cultural management, management accounting, occupational safety and life safety, fundraising, media and communication, international art market and management, applied mathematics, economic theory, fundamentals of business, academic skills, information and communication technologies, economic analysis, statistics, microeconomics, econometrics, fundamentals of management, organizational behavior, quality management, marketing, operations management, research methodology, educational management, and modern management communications.
