About the Faculty
In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 23, 1997, “On the Establishment of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan,” and the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 131 dated March 11, 1997, the National Institute of Painting and Design named after Kamoliddin Behzod was established on the basis of the Faculty of Painting of the Tashkent State Institute of Arts named after Mannon Uygur. The institute was named after the great artist Kamoliddin Behzod, the founder of the Eastern miniature school, and the Faculty of Fine Arts was organized as the main foundation of the institute.
At this faculty, many prominent masters who laid the foundation of Uzbek fine arts and trained numerous disciples, academicians of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, People’s Artists of Uzbekistan, as well as many well-known artists taught students the secrets of fine art.
The faculty consists of 6 departments: “Easel Painting,” “Monumental Painting,” “Theater Design Painting,” “Miniature and Book Graphics,” “Sculpture,” and “Drawing.”
Currently, the faculty includes recipients of the “Zulfiya” State Award, holders of the “Mard O‘g‘lon” badge, winners of named scholarships, as well as winners of international Olympiads and prestigious competitions.

The Kamoliddin Behzod Institute of Fine and Decorative Arts and Design is an authoritative higher educational institution that trains highly qualified professionals in fine and applied arts. Since 1959, sculpture has been taught as a separate field at the institute.
